Like many of you reading this, I love riding my bike for transportation, fitness and fun. Since 2005, my bike has also allowed me to get around without owning a car. My cargo bike carries full loads of groceries, my surfboard and even a friend!

In our storefronts (Unique Tan), we’ve installed three sets of highly efficient washers and dryers, we’ve changed out all our lights to compact fluorescent lights and we use a whole store fan system to cool instead of air conditioning. At our house, we’ve installed a highly efficient pool heater.

We have those old fashioned rectangle shaped glass drop in slot windows. They don't close well and are drafty. So we simply covered the window with clear packing tape! Works great, and when the Summer comes around, take off the tape with a little goo be gone--Wa-La! We also have a huge yard and now have a superb Cacti Garden, plus planting our own vegetable garden this year.
