Impact Hub Compost & Recycling Program
August 1 @ 10:00 am - 11:00 amFree
Join CEC’s community partner, the Impact Hub, in a monthly, community-wide Compost and Recycling Program! In this free community event happening on the first Wednesday of each month, Santa Barbara City Trash & Recycling Specialist Hillary Allen will tell you everything you need to know about the City’s Foodscraps Program, recycling, and waste diversion efforts.
City Trash & Recycling manages reliable, cost-effective collection of residential and commercial waste. They assist homeowners, renters, and businesses in making the most of a suite of modern waste services available to them. They also negotiate and manage the contract with our city’s franchised waste hauler, MarBorg. Their primary focus is on maximizing diversion of solid waste from landfill disposal.
Recycling Specialist, Hillary Allen, is a Santa Barbara native who has been with the City since 2005. She started in the City Administrator’s Office but eventually moved over to Environmental Services because she loved their mission to reduce waste in the City. Hillary does a little bit of everything in the office, from customer service to food scraps training; but whatever she is working on, her goal is to provide exemplary customer service while doing it. She earned a BA in Art History from UCSB (including schooling in Florence, Italy) and spent some time traveling before settling back in Santa Barbara.
