People’s Climate Mobilization Rally
April 29 @ 12:00 pm - 2:00 pm
People’s Climate Rally
Sat Apr 29, 12-2pm
La Playa Stadium at Santa Barbara City College
Thousands will march on Washington DC and around the world on Apr 29th. A coalition of climate, environmental justice, labor and youth/campus groups are working together here in Santa Barbara, to take a stand for climate justice & a clean energy economy!
The current administration wants to back out of our international climate agreements and has promised to increase domestic oil drilling. We must come together and mark the end of the first 100 days with action and unity!
Please join us!
At 12:00 we will hear testimonials from community members, youth, workers, and small businesses affected by climate change. We will offer a Chumash blessing on the ocean & our coast.
Throughout the rally, we will be collecting postcards to the County Board of Supervisors opposing new oil development in Santa Barbara County. We will hear from Supervisor Das Williams and present hopefully 1,000s of postcards to him at the event.
We will hear from musical entertainers, then be lead in a pledge to end climate change. If our president refuses to keep the Paris Agreement, then we all must as citizens uphold our own individual Clean Power Plan!
We will end with chants and then form a human sign in the bleachers, to send a message of hope around the world as we continue to fight for our planet and our future in the years to come.
