Solarize Santa Barbara
You can go solar. We can help.
Solarize Santa Barbara is a Community Environmental Council (CEC) program that makes it easier and cheaper for local homeowners to go solar. Our group purchasing model helps local homeowners install solar electricity through a streamlined and hassle-free process, at a discounted price. CEC’s 2011 and 2012 Solarize Santa Barbara Programs helped nearly 80 local homeowners go solar.
How does Solarize Santa Barbara work?
CEC first carefully evaluates and selects experienced solar installer partner(s) for the Solarize program. CEC then negotiates a limited time, discounted price that these installers offer to local residents who go solar thorough the program. By gathering residents together in a community led effort to go solar, Solarize Santa Barbara offers tremendous discounts made possible by collective purchasing.
Solarize Santa Barbara participants also help support CEC’s mission. Included in the purchase price is a small one-time fee ($0.15 per installed watt) that is paid directly to CEC by the solar installers. This fee helps CEC continue to promote renewable energy in the Central Coast region and be self-sustaining, at no additional cost to the homeowner.
Solarize Group Purchasing: A Proven Model
Solarize Santa Barbara is designed after similar successful Solarize programs in cities such as Portland, Oregon, and Boston, Massachusetts. These programs have effectively built up the solar markets in their communities and we continue to see “solarized” communities as some of the leading communities in terms of per capita solar installations. Solarize programs are now popping up across the country to help homeowners go solar.
