California’s transportation sector remains the single largest contributor of emissions for both greenhouse gases that exacerbate climate change and many unhealthy air pollutants. The rapid adoption of electric vehicles (EVs) is a critical step to remedy this problem.
Last year, we saw a substantial shift in the right direction: nearly 10 percent of all new vehicles sold in 2018 in California were plug-in electric vehicles. However, the development of local charging stations is not keeping pace with the number of EVs on the road. We need to remove unnecessary barriers to local government permitting that increase project costs and impede the rapid installation of new charging stations.
Sign a Petition Here to Urge Local Officials to Streamline the Permit Process for EV Charging Stations
We’re asking local governments to take immediate action to remove unnecessary barriers to new EV charging stations. This will let us rapidly expand access to EV charging at key locations – shopping centers, workplaces, multifamily apartments, and more – to allow more people in our diverse communities to drive electric.
