Kick Off The Giving Season With #GivingTuesday

CEC has joined #GivingTuesday, a national movement to create a day of giving around the holidays.  With consumerist traditions like Black Friday and Cyber Monday becoming the new norm, #GivingTuesday aims to bring generosity and giving back into focus.  On Tuesday, December 3, CEC will join over 8,000 partners – a unique blend of organizations, businesses and individuals – to inspire personal philanthropy and encourage charitable giving during the holiday season.

#GivingTuesday is not a new way to give, but a call to action to encourage better and smarter giving. The movement kicks off the “giving season,” when many make their end-of-year charitable donations.  This #GivingTuesday CEC offers two ways to get involved.

First, if the #GivingTuesday movement has inspired you to do more with your wallet than just shop, please give to CEC.  Your donation will directly affect the work that CEC is doing to move the region away from fossil fuels.  Donations are tax-deductible and you can easily give online using a credit card or paypal.  If you sign up to become a member at the $10 a month level during the first week of December, you’ll receive a Glass Dharma reusable glass straw as a thank you gift.

Second, tell others why you give to CEC by taking an “unselfie”.  Simply take a photo of yourself, or a loved one, holding a sign that starts with “I give” and ends with the reason why you support CEC. Please include our hashtag #IamCEC on your sign. Post your photo via InstagramTwitter, and Facebook and use #IamCEC. We’ll choose a submission each week to be featured on the CEC Facebook page.

Start off the giving season by showing that the holidays are both about giving and giving back.  Not only will your contribution support the work of CEC, it is also an opportunity to inspire others to join the #GivingTuesday movement and show that this holiday season we can give as good as we get.

Thank you!
